Where will we get funds from?
Each project will have a different route for funding. There are many organisations who give grants to different types of schemes – private companies, public bodies, charities and trust funds. They will have different criteria from encouraging health and wellbeing to supporting environmental improvements and helping those most in need. But the Trust will work with community groups to identify potential sources of funds.
Some communities have access to substantial community benefit funds from wind farms. It’s unlikely we would ever receive this type of funding because of our location. But the government are planning to extend community benefit payments to cover electrical infrastructure and, if this happens, we may be able to apply to those funds. Similarly, The Highland Council is creating an investment fund through its Social Values Charter which will provide funds to those areas not supported by community benefit funds.

How can I apply for funds?
We hope in time to create a fund which will allow local groups to apply for small sums, typically less than £5k. But at the moment our focus is on trying to raise funds for a number of larger projects. If you’ve got an idea for a particular project please get in touch and we can see if we can help in any way.
